Shoot Inspiration: Miss Jackson

Hey guys!

i am BEYOND obsessed with Panic! at the disco's new single 'Miss Jackson' (feat. LoLo)
The film clip is fabulous and really captures the essence of the song (as well as showing us the beautiful Mr. Urie in one fine ass suit!)

Not only did I find this to be an epic and energetic tune but I felt instantly inspired to recreate the feel of the video in print and to embody the persona of 'Miss Jackson'

Here's some more inspiration for 'Miss Jackson'

The idea of the photo shoot is very much centred around creating the character 'Miss Jackson' taking a lot of inspiration from BBC Sherlocks character of Irene Adler (pictured above) it's all about sex, corruption and the dirty things that happen behind closed doors. I'd love to shoot it in a cheap motel and have the model climbing out windows, putting on lippy in the vanity mirror and calling you over to the bed with a sexy stare (and a knife stashed behind her back)

It's about all things naughty but with an eccentric over abundance of crazy by using over the top hair, make up and props.

Definitely adding this project to my to-do list! Also leave me comment on how you feel about the song!

Until next time! xx

Shopping Haul!

Hey guys!

I've recently done a little bit of shopping, on top of going on a mini spree this past weekend, i've also brought a few items online!

On sunday I went out shopping with my sister and friend Alyssa, unfortunately I did a whole heap of window shopping (and internal crying!) But I did pick up a few items. All together I spent about $50, including lunch! Which I think is a great effort considering how much of a broke student I am right now! Bargain babe status achieved!

Here's what I wore on Sunday!

Striped top: Kmart
Boyfriend Jeans: Cotton On
Lily Sandals: Windsor Smith
Leather Jacket: Nasty Gal

Here's what I bought on Sunday!

Chain ($9.95), Sunglasses ($9.95), and bun doughnuts ($3.95) from Gloss and yin yang ring ($2) from Jay Jays

Hell yeah tote ($2) from Cotton On

Slogan Tee ($24.95, I bought it for $12.50) CO by Cotton On

Online I bought:

Knock off Zara skirt from Sheinside.com

Batman symbol jumper from Ebay.

15 things you need in your stylist bag.

Hey guys!

I heard some great reviews on my 'How to dress like a runway show dresser' so since you guys love a bit of 'how to' behind the scenes I thought i'd do a piece on how to pack your stylist bag!

A stylist bag is a handy tool to carry on photo shoots and will be vital when things go wrong. It's all about being overly prepared, so that if there is a malfunction of some sort it wont ruin your whole shoot. For example, a garment may be way over sized on the model, or wont sit properly, a model may not wear the correct underwear for a look or straps my break on a key piece.

Your Stylist bag should include:

1. Nipple covers ,incase your garments are too thin and the model has to go bra-less.
2. Bulldog clips or pegs, to take in clothes that are too big on the model.
3. Sewing kit, if something breaks you're going to need to be handy with a needle
4. Towel/Sheet, this is really handy if you're shooting in public so your model can get dressed discretely 5. Spare nude underwear, stick on bra and bandeau, sometimes models aren't prepared so you must be.
6. Safety pins and rubber bands, to hold things together.
7. Masking tape and scissors, for any shoe taping emergencies.
8. Static spray, to use on clingy fabric and Sticky rollers to get rid of hair or lint on clothes.
9. Pain killers, tissues, moisturiser and sanitary items, be prepared to save someones day!
10. Wet wipes and stain remover pens.
11. Body tape, it will bind things together or on your model and is safe on clothes.
12. Markers, so you can label where clothes are from once you've taken the tags off. (by writing on a piece of masking tape and sticking it near the tag)
13. OPTIONS!! Make sure you pack more than your planned outfits! Even if you don't use them they can come in handy!
14. Tissue paper, incase the shoes don't fit the model, you can stuff them.
15. Bobby pins and hair ties, because who doesn't need more of these.

Optional:
1. Straightener. (Incase the Hair stylists' breaks)
2. Hair spray.
3. Tagging gun, to re-tag clothes if needed.
4. Thongs, incase the model has her toes recently painted.
5. Paper towels and ziplock bags, for cleaning and storage.

I've seen plenty of items like these used even in a pre-prepared Studio shoots! It's a stylists job to be prepared for everything and if you have a pre-packed bag with the above items ready to go, you'll be prepared for any catastrophe.

If you know of any other items that have helped you out in a switch, leave them in the comments!

Until next time! xx

Trend to try: Holographic Metallics

Hey Guys!

I've been SUPER busy composing my styling assignment for school (I've barely had time to eat!)
One of the parts is to create an idea for an editorial with Vogue using a current trend, personally I chose the growing Metallic and Holographic trend, since i've been lusting over every piece of Holographic clothing I can find on the internet! I also recently spray painted an old pair of docs Chrome! I am completely and utterly OBSESSED!

I'm hoping to track down a decently priced holographic jacket and track pants and I bought some holographic lycra so I can make a skirt and crop top. I'd love it if the trend had more of a presence in the big chain stores, since right now it's only seen in accessories. If they make it i'll probably end up buying it! I have seen a few cool items on O-Mighty and Missguided, but they will have to wait until i'm rich (aka. Never)

So love or loathe? And do you know any awesome sites selling this trend? Hit me up in the comments!

Until next time! xx

Two ways to wear it: Day vs Night

Hey guys!

I had the opportunity of borrowing some clothes from Supré last week and decided to do a mini look book on their awesome 'Wifey' top. I chose one Tank and one Tee and decided to do a Day vs Night look. My idea was to have one represent the Grunge trend and the other rocking chic Camo Street style, The coolest part was being able to shoot it literally 2 steps away from each other! Turns out my Backyard has some sweet locations!

'Wifey' shirts and Camo jeans: Supré
Beetlejuice leggings: Blackmilk (dupes can be found on Supré)
Silver boots: Model's DIY
Sandy boots: old season Rubi Shoes
Skull necklace: old season Diva

So do you walk on the Dark side? Or is street smart Camo babe more your style?
Leave me a comment on how you'd style this rad tee!

Until next time! xx

Hey guys!

I'm currently obsessing over 'Boyfriend jeans' and Recently bought myself a pair! so i thought this week i'd kick off my new 'Recreate' posts by having a go at minimalistic street style surrounding the boyfriend jean trend. I'll link all the items i recreate so you can add them to your wardrobe!

Outfit one: I love the simplicity of this outfit, it's great for a day of running about but can easily be dressed up for a night of glam with cute strappy stilettos, small clutch and a statement necklace! Model off duty anyone?

Outfit two: This has to be my favourite outfit! Stripes are effortlessly chic and can add an instant POW to any boring old outfit! Why not take a leaf out of Taylor Swift's style diary and pair it with a bold red lip? This look is perfect for the casual tourist and just screams French style.
